Our Montessori
classrooms include an environment prepared
especially to provide children opportunities to
experience their world and to explore their
place in it, as well as to discover the
"three R's" and advanced academics.
The four basic areas are as follows: Practical
Life (including science and social studies),
Sensorial (including art and music), Language
Arts, and Math.
Through these
areas, independence and self-confidence,
awareness of the child's environments, and the
experience of the joy of meaningful work is
aroused. The child's senses and small and large
motor development are refined. Sounds are
learned phonetically, working towards in depth
study of grammar and composition and report
(technical) and creative writing. Concepts are
always presented concretely, progressing to the
more complex abstract concepts. |
